CHAPAGAUN
VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
INTRODUCTION:
Chapagaun Village Development committee(VDC) is one amongst  the 41 VDCs of Lalitpur district that lies in the bagmati zone ,Central development area.
This VDC is included in electrol section 1,Ilaka 10 with the accesibility 8 kilometers or 2 miles away from the highway.

In context of its history,
Since 2047 B.S.,this area have been converted into VDC from the Village Panchayat.
In context of its naming,indigenious believes shows that there were numbers of the trees of “Chap”,so the place was called “Chap Gaun”. Then,with the modification of time,it turns out to be “Chapagaun”.
Whilst this area is also commonly known as “Chapagaun”, “Champapur” and “Vadeha”;other believes of its naming includes,
v The presence of the dense forest of trees of “Chap”,so it was called “Chapagaun”
v “Champapur” is the historical name of this village; in name of the goddess “Champapur Devi” located in the center of this village
v “Vadeha” is named as representing the village as “the country of rice”;in nepal bhasa, “va” represents rice and “deha” represents the country. Thus,this area being well known for its efficient production of crops is also known  “Vadeha”
v “Vaya”: There is an interesting story regarding its naming. Once a while,the son of the Malla king was born at the bad astronomic prediction. This child was considered to be bad ,so the jyothis instructed the king that this child is to be withdrawn from the kingdom.Thus, to get  rid of this child, the child was sent at this village.In nepal bhasa, “Vaya Hahghu”  means to be thrown.This village was named as “Vaya”.
